True friends are hard to keep and even harder to find.
There's only 3 reasons why you lose a friend; Change, Neglect & Betrayal.
- Change: Usually friendship is disrupted because of major changes for better or worse in the life of your friends. The changing part might be emotional or materialism. Since most friendship usually starts off when both people having similar experiences. However, once one from the pack changes its status (good financial, more educated, better career, good marriage etc), the rest would attack him/her like wolves. It's human nature to be envy of one another. You would asked "why him/her and not me?". It's vice-versa when your BFFs or friend's life going downhill. You will tend to avoid them. (Probably afraid that they might be asking money from you? Of course there are plenty other reason like you don't want to be link to a loser? Pride is at stake.)
- Neglect: So life is a motion. We fell down, we stand up and we move forward. (it's like the Julius Ceaser's quote "we come, we saw, we conquer" thing.) Same goes to our relationships around us. However, some friendships just died off because they aren't moving forward. They die from stagnation or just plain neglect. Let's say you knew your BFFs birthday is coming due to work stress, your busy with your boyfriend or some other things... you were to busy to celebrate with him/her. And when we're busy, we only do what's is easy for us. Friendship is not an easy task; lots of attention is needed. So that's why best friendship breaks easily when we needed them the most.
Here comes part 3.
- Betrayal: This is a classic case when lost trust results in lost friend. Your BFF or your close friend who knows your dark secrets, who shares your ice-cream with you when you were young, who can be your housemates, your shoulder to cry on when you broke up with your jerky ex-es... now has the power to hurt you precisely because he/she knows you too well. Just like reading a book as simple as A-Z. You asked "Why would he or she wants to be an asshole or a bitch? We're like the best pal on earth?" Again this questioned can be answered easily with the 2 earlier reasons. People changed.
