Yeah... it's cute to see a loving doodle animation from Google this morning! Heard the callers called in to MyFm Station wishing their other half lovey-dovey cutesy messages which just melt the heart. It's a good start of the day! Guest what it's Valentines Day!
Blah~ blah~ blah~ everyone just couldn't stop complaining it's a commercialize day and has no meaning at all except for spending extra large amount of money for things! Yeah we all knew that since your great great great great grand father's generations! However, we still see that everyone don't mind spending on this day for their loved ones. Why don't you say Father's Day, Mother's Day, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Hari Raya, Deepavali a commercialize cultural day as well? They're created and there for a reason. Of coz' the advertiser took it as an opportunity to sell and promote their whatever products and services. Still that's a total different story right...? People took advantage and misused it to earn extra income it doesn't mean Valentines Day is not a special day. Whether or not you see it as a commercialize day... at the end of the day it's all up to your perception and how you would love to see things differently.
Of coz' I agree everyday can be Valentines Day if we are rich enuff LOL (ok just a joke don't take it so seriously)! What I'm trying to say it even if we're not we still can treat everyday as V-day because "life greatest happiness is to be convinced we are loved" and so if being with people you loved most and vice-versa be it your family, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, friends and pets makes you happy. That's already the biggest Valentines gift one could have! Again then you asked since everyday is V-day why bother to celebrate another day then...? I must say people from the 21st century are not so romantic compared to our forefathers whom you know wrote poems to their loved ones (maybe coz they don't have the thing called internet yet) or erm... simply put it this way we don't express our love very often especially guys (in general not all though, of coz some gals, parents as well you know don't know how to tell "I love you" to their kids). Plus the key point is we live in a very super duper busy world nowadays... hectic routines... till we come to a point where the only time we see our husband/wife/kids/partners/family/pets might be during dinner or bedtime when you're sleeping next to each other (ok you don't sleep with you pets doesn't mean others don't LOL). We don't even have the time to pause and think "Wow! You(FILL IN THE BLANK THE NAME OF THE VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE)look amazing today!" (gave him/her a simple compliment)
So Valentines Day is here for a reason. Time for some history lesson. History says that our modern celebration has no inter-link with the Saints...(very true) well rather V'day is link to the Roman fertility festival called Lupercalia. It goes something like women were put in a box and man drawn out a card creating a chance for sexual purposes. So it has been passed down generations after generations. From generations it evolved and it has become a day to show appreciation to people we love. It is so that we can take 24hrs out of 8766.1536 hours per year (maybe not so much just 20mins of the day) and gave "EXTRA attention to our love ones" 20mins is a lot for one person LOL since we have many important people in our lives we want to show our appreciation to them. A simple THANK YOU & I LOVE YOU would put a smile on their faces. It doesn't mean you need to spend them anything... unless if you wanted too hehehe! Even if you wanted to give something to them, I feel personalize gift is the best. Such as simple poem greeting cards made by you, simple heart warm dinner cooked by you, or compile all the lovey-dovey photo which filled with memories and gave it to them would really touch their hearts. I feel the extra effort meant a lot more than spending on expensive goods.
So if you asked me, "what did I get him?". My answer is "nothing". The night before when the clock marked 11.59pm... he went and took his bath as usual, I wrote him a simple cute lovey message in his Fb wall post. He didn't see it till this morning and I guess that's good enough to put a smile on his face since in return I get a awesomely yum yum kiss from him haha that's good enough for me! But we did some what take this day as an good excuse to have some good food during the past weekend. The only down part is I was down with fever, flu and cough so my appetite was just so-so. I was recovering on Sunday and we decided to head to Munich Gastro Bierhaus for a simple romantic celebration. It's cheap and good. Check out the pictures below:
