Day 4
We travelled to Northwest the city of Memphis to visit the an archeological remain of Saqqara Necropolis, The Step Pyramid of Zoser. It was built for the burial of Pharoah Djoser during 27th century BC.
Yet again another dramatic scene happened during our visit. My sista and I were kinda kidnapped by the Arabians LOL they are freaking scary people. Imagine my size yet they still managed to grab me and carried me on the donkey... lucky my dad's friend were around so he demanded them to bring the both of us back and not go further for the donkey ride. We don't even know they were the vendor of the donkey ride... took our cameras and offered to take some pictures for us... at first they were nice to us and I feel something's not right... but kind of too late... within seconds my sista and I were being pulled away! The vendor (a few of them in one group) demanded money from us 500 Egyptian pounds per person including my dad's friend. Being smart my sista and I just walked away hahaha donkey is small easier to get down as compared to camel. So I said go take from the boss and I ran off... hahaha~ my dad's friend gave them 50 egyptian pound for the 3 of us. They were making lots of noise and my dad's friend shouted at them said "NO YOU CALL ME I DIDN'T ASKED FOR YOU!" Which I think was pretty true... then we walked off! It's either they want the 50pound or buzz off hehehe! We are afterall Penangites think twice before trying to cheat our money hehehe!
After lunch, we then proceed to The famous Great Pyramid of Giza or also known as Pyramid Cheops - Khufu and also the other 2 pyramids of Khafe & Menkaure. The grandfather and the father's pyramid are huge... the grandson/son not as wealthy so he built a smaller one but to make it unique he covered with granite stone. Pyramid of Giza is known as one of the oldest Seven Wonders of the World and the only one largely remain intact.
Went to Paranoma site, had a wonderful view of the 3 pyramids... we've also enter inside the pyramids (no cameras allowed) the stairs were steep and hurts my back and it was really deep and dusty. If you have claustrophobic best to stay out of it... It was definitely tiring but fun! I had camel riding as well. It's FOC for me because my mum had a free seat I took her free ride. It scary... not as fun as you seen it in the movie. If you go alone to those camel vendors they will slaughter your pocket hehehe! Normal price is about 10USD per person. I've heard story like those people would give you a cheap price once the bring you the desert halfway they will ask for the money doubled and if you refuse... you will either be left alone in the desert and walk back or they won't let you come down from the camel and you can jump from the camel because it's too high (you might die falling from that height). So it's best to follow tour group. It a good experience for me! Though the camel I sat on kept running towards its partner and scared the shyt out of me!
We practically spent the whole day there... it was a hot day... We then visited the Sphinx of Giza, a mythological creature that is depicted as a recumbent feline with a human head. The head of Sphinx is believe to be the Pharoah Khafra. Here's the picture...
